Kate and Doug, two of East Church's newest members, spearheaded a fundraising initiative to purchase solar powered lanterns for residents of Puerto Rico still left without reliable electricity. The appeal exceeded the goal by a wide margin. In the end we were able to purchase 840 inflatable, waterproof solar lanterns (including 276 with mobile charging ports). A celebratory parade through the neighborhood followed the conclusion of the fundraising appeal.
