Okay, this was awesome.
As part of their Creation Care curriculum, the East Church church school participants heard and considered an African story about the Baobob Tree. The youth began constructing a model of one of these giant elders out of Sculpy clay. Tony A. recognized it as a good start, but added some refinements, including reinforcing the original after it split under its own weight. An exquisite diorama was on display at the January 26 worship service, along with a narrative of the indigenous story, background on the model, and a sobering report on the diminished health of these most remarkable trees.
