AYE Churches in the UCC denomination are for the most part self-governing. East Church’s fiscal year begins in early June. Committee reports are presented and a budget is presented, discussed, debated, and ultimately approved by a quorum of members. East Church convened its first-ever virtual Annual Meeting following a virtual worship service (Communion included!) on June 7. Many if not most organizations’ governing bodies these days are figuring out how to carry on in an era in which physical gatherings aren’t possible. East Church members showed up and did what needed to be done in a serious yet respectful fashion. Thank you to Moderator Paul who kept us all on track!
